On October 26, 2022, just days before the 10-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, DACK’s President Aleksandra Chancy, alongside the officials from The Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR) and Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Fresh Creek Coastal Resiliency Project.
This $14M stormwater mitigation project consisted of replacing one (1) outfall and installing new tide gates at five (5) different locations with 6.5’ diameter storm drainage piping in Brooklyn, NY. The purpose of the project is to protect areas most vulnerable to flooding during future storm surges. A strengthened concrete storm sewer outfall will mitigate rain and tide waters from backflowing through the stormwater sewer system and flooding the neighborhood during storm surges.
DACK was the prime Construction Manager for the project, providing Construction Management, Estimating and Scheduling services. Construction kicked off in October 2021 and was completed on schedule in July 2022.
